Any Tips For Drawing With A Mouse?

Submitted by admin on September 16, 2009 – 4:42 am3 Comments

I have an optical mouse…I’m getting a tablet for my birthday which is about two months away, I don’t really want to wait that long…and I don’t have a scanner…so is there any way I could get better at drawing with a mouse until I get my tablet?

Practice , practice , practice !!! Drawing with a mouse is just plain odd ! A lot of patience and short strokes is all the advice I can give you . Short strokes will eliminate the possibility of erasing large portions of your work should you have to click “undo” . Your artistic ambition should overcome any frustration (until you receive your tablet:). Happy Birthday in advance , good luck and have fun .

I use the mouse to draw all the time. I find it easier sometimes than the tablet. I love the pen tool. Drawing with the pen tool is all about shortcut keys. Alt Shift Ctrl Space bar allows you to manipulate points lines and angles more precisely than a tablet. I move the mouse between my thumb and pinky more than I do my wrist. If you use your wrist too much your wrist will get sore.
