    Go to the website for the company that makes your scanner and look for drivers for Windows XP. These are free for downloading, because it is not uncommon for people to want to keep using older hardware with the newer operating system.
    Do be aware that depending on just how old the scanner is, it might not be supported anymore, but it’s worth trying.

    Yes… and maybe. Windows 98, 2000, and XP use the same basic driver framework. So you can interchange drivers in theory.
    I was in the same situation with you and the scanner worked fine for me.

    You didn’t mention which model scanner.
    I would have assist you further, anyhow, you can visit manufacturer website > type the model number of the scanner there and download the software.

    Of course you can, you may need to install the drivers for it if your using another computer. The best place to get the drivers is at the manufacterers website.
